BRANDON AND ALLY | CHILDREN

NAPERVILLE, IL

Today is Ally's 4th birthday.  She's getting tall and looks so beautiful and so grown up these days.  What I love the most though is that when both my kids smile, genuinely smile, like during a belly laugh, they flash me their dimples and I immediately see their baby faces and my heart melts.  But they are growing up so fast and I can see the changes in them in every set of photos I take, even if the photos are only taken a few months apart.  I took these photos about a week ago when we had a warmer winter day and lots of sunshine.  Brandon was actually about to lose his tooth (he did lose it later that night) and he was worried about it, but both kids knew how important it was to me to take a few photos of them to document their 6th and 4th birthdays.  So they braved the chilly evening air and gave me the gorgeous photos I so badly wanted.  And now my not-so-baby baby girl is 4 years old.  She's sweet, sassy, smart, kind, and we are so proud of who she is and who she is becoming!

Happy 4th Birthday Alexandra!  We love you so much!

CHURCHILL WOODS | LOMBARD, IL

The other night I took my babies out (they're not babies anymore really but they'll always be my babies) for a few quick photos at Churchill Woods Forest Preserve in Lombard.  I'd actually never been there before so we went to scope it out and wow, it was absolutely gorgeous and so serene. It was a cloudy day but sometimes it's better when I take photos of my own kids on overcast days because they both have really sensitive eyes and tend to squint a TON!  While we were there we just explored the rocks and creek, had fun on the bridge, and of course made wishes on dandelions!  And what do you think the kids wished for?  Ally wished for a pink unicorn (bless her little heart) and Brandon wished for a Darth Vador costume (haha can you tell they'd just watched Star Wars with Tony?).

I love capturing the easy, everyday moments.  I love that I can look back at these photos and remember the expressions on my kids' faces, how they laughed and played with each other, and their sweet dimples on their little faces.  Sometimes I wish I could just freeze time.  Moments like these, when I slow down and really take in life, I'm reminded how grateful I am for my family, but especially for my children, who are happy, healthy, and feed my soul with unconditional love.  So on this Mother's Day, this is my gift to myself.  Beautiful photos of my children, that I will cherish forever, that will help remind me what life is really all about.  It's not about things, it's about the little things...

CARTER | MILESTONE

IN STUDIO MILESTONE | NAPERVILLE, IL

I met the Carter family last year when Brittany contacted me about having fall family photos taken.  Her daughter Caroline was also six months old at the time so she wanted to use the session for family photos and milestone photos.  We had so much fun at that session - Brittany and Jarrod are so laid back and incredibly nice!  Little Caroline was adorable and we got tons of great shots!  Fast forward to a few months ago and Brittany emailed me again asking to schedule Caroline's one year photos.  It was so hard to believe how fast six months went by!  Since my shooting and editing style is moving toward more of a stylized look and approach, Brittany and I discussed what Caroline's outfits would be and we finalized that Brittany would bring a little pink floral one piece outfit and light pink headband for Caroline to wear and I would provide her second boutique outfit to wear during the session (a cream colored chiffon top and light pink shorts), along with a natural inspired twine headband.  Caroline looked so cute in both outfits, but what I really love are her big beautiful brown eyes!  They really are captivating!  I love everything about this session - the look, the style, and the emotion!  Take a look at some of my favorite photos (it was hard to choose!).

WILDER PARK CONSERVATORY, ELMHURST, IL

Yvette recently contacted me about taking her daughter's two year photos I was so excited because she said she was also pregnant and wanted a few pregnancy reveal photos.  Yvette has great style and had a great vision for the reveal (a giant "big sis" balloon she found and bought - it was simple, but made a statement (perfect!)) and it perfectly coordinated with the adorable outfits she picked out to have her daughter Ana wear.  I loved her color choices, which were mostly neutral but had a pop of color (bright, deep gold!  Love!).  Because the weather here is still awful, I suggested we do the session at a greenhouse.  Yvette actually lives in Elmhurst so she was super close to the Wilder Park Conservatory.  This greenhouse is fairly small, but it's beautiful and it made the perfect backdrop for Ana's photo session!  The bold colors of the greenery and flowers looked so great with Ana's outfits.  I had such a blast just playing with Ana, looking at the fish in the greenhouse pond, and sneaking in photos in between :)  My editing for this set of photos was a bit more matte, which I love because it looked great with the bold colors and gave them more of a fine art look.  This is one of my favorite photo shoots to date!  Take a look - I couldn't even decide on a few favorites so I included most of the gallery!  :)
