RECKELHOFF | FAMILY

NAPERVILLE, IL

I love working with this family! Not only do they take stunning photos, they are so sweet and fun to work with! Kent and Ann’s girls are so well behaved and we had the best time being silly and giggling! We really lucked out with the weather the day of their session, too! It was windy but it was one of the only warmer, sunnier days we had had in the beginning of spring. The light was perfect and I just love how their photos turned out!

BISKUP | FAMILY

NAPERVILLE, IL

The Biskup’s family session last fall was one of my favorites of all time. Several things about this session made it so special. What’s ironic is that certain things you would think would make it a terrible session happened, but it was so so good. This sweet family had gotten a horrible stomach flu a few days before their original session date and so we pushed the session back a week so they had time to recover. The weather was already starting to be typical Illinois fall hit-or-miss so when the we saw the weather for the rescheduled date was going to be sunny and not freezing, we didn’t want to change the date a second time. But the virus the family had was a rough one and their poor little guy still wasn’t feeling well a week later. He had fallen asleep in the car on the way to the session and was so exhausted and icky feeling all he wanted to do was snuggle his mama. Mom’s zipper on the side of her skirt also busted wide open toward the end of the session, go figure! So of course Mom was a little stressed (because all of us moms want everything to go well), however, I reassured her we would go with the flow and still get some great shots. We were even able to improvise with her skirt and she was able to hide the wide open zipper. Let me tell you, despite what went wrong, the circumstances of the session made it such an authentic one. It was full of family snuggles, giggles, exploring, and just being together (with me following them around sneaking photos). The sunset was absolutely gorgeous through the clouds, and Mom styled the family so beautifully. Check out this gorgeous family!

GREEN | FAMILY

NAPERVILLE, IL

In the beginning of the summer, I had the pleasure of doing a family session for fellow local photographer (and my good friend!) Julianne Green of Julianne Green Photography.  Julianne Green Photography is located in Downers Grove and Julianne and her family are the sweetest!  We had so much fun during this session and she and her family are gorgeous!  I had such a hard time culling this session because every photo was so beautiful.  Her girls, Avery and Anna were so sweet and so well behaved, and we just had such a fun time playing and laughing!  They also brought along their adorable poodle Charlie, who also did great!  Take a look at their stunning sunset session!

SIKORSKI | FAMILY

WARRENVILLE, IL

I recently had the pleasure of photographing the sweet Sikorski Family!  You can't tell from the photos because they completely braved the elements, but it was absolutely freezing and so, so windy the day of their session (even though it was at the end of April, mind you).  The girls were so cold but they were still such good listeners!  And let's talk about that light...it was just perfect! Check out my favorites from this beautiful session!  <3

ON MOTHER'S DAY...

TO THE ONE WHO MADE ME A MOTHER AND TO THE ONE WHO COMPLETED OUR FAMILY...

As I've sat here thinking about all the things I could write, happy things, sappy things, etc. about being a mom on Mother's Day and motherhood, I really just want to say what I appreciate most about my children.  Yes motherhood is hard and yes my children are not perfect.  I am far from a perfect mom.  But flaws and all, difficult moments and all, what I love most about my children is their unconditional love.  Their love of life, and playing, and pretending.  Their creativity.  Their laughs.  The way they keep me so very grounded.  The way their little cheeks feel when I kiss them goodnight.  Their big beautiful smiles with their little dimples.  Their ability to make me love more deeply and unselfishly than I ever thought I could.  The way they remind me that life is precious and short and we should enjoy it to the best of our abilities.  So I sit here today being so incredibly thankful that they have given me the ability to feel and experience all of these things.  I'm so very proud to be their mama today and every day.  <3

MARTEN | FAMILY

NAPERVILLE, IL

This past fall I had the pleasure of meeting and working with the Marten family!  They were just the sweetest and so easy to work with!  They braved a very chilly November day and their photos came out just beautifully!  The girls are super sweet and well behaved and did great taking their sister photos as well as their individual photos.  Take a look at some of my favorites from their session!

BRANDON AND ALLY | CHILDREN

NAPERVILLE, IL

Today my Brandon turns six years old.  It's so true what they say - the days are long, but the years are short.  The years are truly flying by so fast and it's so bittersweet.  I remember drinking wine and bawling my eyes out the night before Brandon's first birthday.  I couldn't believe where that year had gone.  One thing is for sure though - I am so grateful for all the photos I've taken over the last six years.  In the moment, I always tell myself to really try and make a mental picture of what my kids looked like at this age, or this phase, or in this moment, etc., but sadly as the years go by those crystal clear pictures in my head get a little less clear.  When I look back at photos, it pulls at my heart strings to see exactly what their little faces looked like, their cute dimples, their beautiful happy smiles and just how small they looked.  I took these photos last August, and although that was only 6 months ago, both Brandon and Ally look so little in these to me!  As much as I wish time could slow down though, I'm so proud of who both of my kids are becoming, turning into amazing young kids and I'm so excited to see who they become in the future!  Right now, though, I'm going to sit back, sip my coffee, and look through some more photos of them :)

Happy 6th Birthday Brandon!  I love you so much!

BRETL | FAMILY

LOMBARD, IL

I've known the Bretl family for a little over a year now and I just love seeing them every time they come for photos!  They are one of the sweetest, most down-to-earth families I know!  They also have a great sense of style :)  Missy planned perfectly coordinated outfits for their fall session last October and they all looked great (I especially loved her adorable ankle boots!)  It was so much fun taking tons of cute pictures while they all played, giggled, and snuggled!  Check out their stunning session!

WHALEN | FAMILY

NAPERVILLE, IL

Last summer I did a session for my good friend and fellow photographer Gina Whalen (of Gina Whalen Photography) and we had the best time!  First of all, she and her family are gorgeous!  Second of all, we had the best weather that evening and it made for an amazing sunset session!  Gina and her family are so laid back that we just had fun the whole time while I snapped away!  Take a look at her beautiful session!   (Gina (and her photography business) has since moved to South Carolina and I miss her but wish her all the best out there!  I know she's enjoying the milder weather there!!)

RYAN | FAMILY

NAPERVILLE, IL

I recently had the pleasure of photographing the Ryan family and we had such a fun time!  The day of their session it was a rare 90 degree day at the end of September - Kate had planned on a fall photo session with fall clothes, but had to figure out new outfits to accommodate the heat!  The Ryan family looked great and were total troopers in the heat for their session!  Even little Lilly, their daughter did great!  We had perfect golden hour light and I just love the warm tones of their photos.  Since it was so hot, I also suggested they take a splash in the water next to the boat docks at the end of the session.  They were totally up for it and we had a great time!  Lilly also had a blast digging in the sand before the session ended.  A perfect end of summer session!  Take a look at some of my favorite shots from this session!

TUMINELLO | FAMILY

NAPERVILLE, IL

I recently had the pleasure of taking more photos for the Tuminello Family!  They have actually been clients of mine since I first started out and I always love seeing them!  It all started when little Owen was born and I took his newborn photos!  Fast forward one year and it was time for his milestone photos!  Molly wanted a few family photos, too, and because he has a summer birthday we were able to do an outdoor family session!  Not only is this family super gorgeous, they are some of the nicest people, too!  They also braved the heat, humidity, and mosquitoes for their beautiful sunset session.  There were so many great photos from this session I had a hard time culling through them and narrowing them down!  Here are my favorites!!

TANGLIS | FAMILY

BOAT DOCKS AT BLACKWELL FOREST PRESERVE | WARRENVILLE, IL

I recently discovered the boat docks at Blackwell Forest Preserve and wow am I glad I did!  It is so serene there and makes the perfect backdrop for sunset sessions!  When my friend Elizabeth asked to book a family session, I suggested the boat docks and she was all for it!  Since this family is good friends of ours, and I know Olivia (she's two) is well behaved, I wasn't worried about having them on the dock and near the water.  We had the most perfect weather after having days and days of rain so I was so excited to see the sun and do a sunset session!  The girls were perfect, even baby Claire was a trooper since it was close to her bedtime!   I just love how peaceful these photos look!  And I love this family too!  Check out some of my favorite photos from this session!

MCCOLLUM | MATERNITY

MCKEE MARSH AT BLACKWELL FOREST PRESERVE | WARRENVILLE, IL

I recently had the pleasure of photographing a super fun couple and wow, their photos came out so beautifully!  Brittany and Mac are not only gorgeous people on the outside (they should just sign baby Wyatt up to be a model now, because we know that will be one good looking child!), but they are the nicest, most down to earth people as well!  Due to the awful weather we've been having here, we had to reschedule their session twice, but it was worth the wait!  We finally had the most perfect, beautiful evening for their session and Brittany was super excited because she said it had rained for both their engagement photo session and on their wedding day!  The sunset at McKee Marsh at Blackwell Forest Preserve is so gorgeous and serene and it was the perfect backdrop for this maternity session.  Brittany and Mac are so photogenic and what's even better is they love to have fun!  They made this session so easy and it was so fun capturing them in their natural element (and check out Mac's awesome "signature jump" that he likes to sneak in every photo session ;-) )!  Take a look at these stunning photos from their sunset session!  I cannot wait to meet baby Wyatt in a few weeks!  He's one lucky baby and is so loved already!

BRANDON AND ALLY | SNOW MINI

HIDDEN LAKES CONSERVATION AREA, BOLINGBROOK, IL

Now what kind of a photographer mom would I be if I didn't take my own kiddos out for a quick snow mini?!  Last weekend it snowed a ton here and it was so fresh and pretty!  (Disclaimer - I actually really, really dislike winter because I'm always freezing and it makes me crazy, BUT I do love the look of fresh snow outside covering everything and making the trees look so pretty!)  I had three sessions scheduled on Sunday (originally not intended to be snow sessions), but my clients were awesome and totally willing to brave the snow for some quick mini sessions!  My client sessions looked so awesome that of course as soon as I came home I told Tony I was going to take Ally and Brandon out for some quick snow photos!  The kids were really good sports about the photos, even though it was snowing a ton and they were freezing!!  We were out for about 10 quick minutes but I got some really cute shots of them and then got them back in the warm car under warm blankets :)  They know mama loves her pictures so they were excited to do this for me (and even though they were freezing they still had fun playing in the snow for a few minutes!).  Snow mini sessions are totally worth braving the cold for!  :-)

MCELROY | FAMILY

KNOCH KNOLLS, NAPERVILLE, IL

Recently I had the pleasure of taking photos for the McElroy family at Knoch Knolls in Naperville! Not only do I love Knoch Knolls because it's beautiful there but it was fun to reconnect with Christina, who I had gone to high school with, and also meet her husband and sweet baby Ava.  Ava is so precious and has such a little doll face!  They are a beautiful family and we captured some really great moments!  Here are some of my favorites from the session!

CARTER | FAMILY

HIDDEN LAKES, BOLINGBROOK, IL

A few weeks ago Brittany emailed me asking to schedule a fall family mini session at Hidden Lakes in Bolingbrook.  I was excited (I'm excited for every session, though!) because I love Hidden Lakes.  It truly is a hidden gem.  The scenery is so beautiful there and it's just so peaceful, especially in the morning.  It's typically quiet there with some people fishing in the ponds.  Sometimes it's bustling with people riding their bikes on the trail that runs along the East Branch of the DuPage River, but everyone is so friendly.  As part of the bike trail at Hidden Lakes, there is a beautiful wooden bridge that makes for a perfect backdrop for photos (we just need to keep a lookout for people riding bikes along the bridge :))  Brittany, her husband Jarrod, and their adorable baby girl Caroline were all so sweet and we had so much fun at the session!  Here are some of my favorite photos (it was hard to choose!)
