GREEN | FAMILY

NAPERVILLE, IL

In the beginning of the summer, I had the pleasure of doing a family session for fellow local photographer (and my good friend!) Julianne Green of Julianne Green Photography.  Julianne Green Photography is located in Downers Grove and Julianne and her family are the sweetest!  We had so much fun during this session and she and her family are gorgeous!  I had such a hard time culling this session because every photo was so beautiful.  Her girls, Avery and Anna were so sweet and so well behaved, and we just had such a fun time playing and laughing!  They also brought along their adorable poodle Charlie, who also did great!  Take a look at their stunning sunset session!

SIKORSKI | FAMILY

WARRENVILLE, IL

I recently had the pleasure of photographing the sweet Sikorski Family!  You can't tell from the photos because they completely braved the elements, but it was absolutely freezing and so, so windy the day of their session (even though it was at the end of April, mind you).  The girls were so cold but they were still such good listeners!  And let's talk about that light...it was just perfect! Check out my favorites from this beautiful session!  <3

ON MOTHER'S DAY...

TO THE ONE WHO MADE ME A MOTHER AND TO THE ONE WHO COMPLETED OUR FAMILY...

As I've sat here thinking about all the things I could write, happy things, sappy things, etc. about being a mom on Mother's Day and motherhood, I really just want to say what I appreciate most about my children.  Yes motherhood is hard and yes my children are not perfect.  I am far from a perfect mom.  But flaws and all, difficult moments and all, what I love most about my children is their unconditional love.  Their love of life, and playing, and pretending.  Their creativity.  Their laughs.  The way they keep me so very grounded.  The way their little cheeks feel when I kiss them goodnight.  Their big beautiful smiles with their little dimples.  Their ability to make me love more deeply and unselfishly than I ever thought I could.  The way they remind me that life is precious and short and we should enjoy it to the best of our abilities.  So I sit here today being so incredibly thankful that they have given me the ability to feel and experience all of these things.  I'm so very proud to be their mama today and every day.  <3

BRANDON AND ALLY | CHILDREN

NAPERVILLE, IL

Today is Ally's 4th birthday.  She's getting tall and looks so beautiful and so grown up these days.  What I love the most though is that when both my kids smile, genuinely smile, like during a belly laugh, they flash me their dimples and I immediately see their baby faces and my heart melts.  But they are growing up so fast and I can see the changes in them in every set of photos I take, even if the photos are only taken a few months apart.  I took these photos about a week ago when we had a warmer winter day and lots of sunshine.  Brandon was actually about to lose his tooth (he did lose it later that night) and he was worried about it, but both kids knew how important it was to me to take a few photos of them to document their 6th and 4th birthdays.  So they braved the chilly evening air and gave me the gorgeous photos I so badly wanted.  And now my not-so-baby baby girl is 4 years old.  She's sweet, sassy, smart, kind, and we are so proud of who she is and who she is becoming!

Happy 4th Birthday Alexandra!  We love you so much!

BRANDON AND ALLY | CHILDREN

NAPERVILLE, IL

Today my Brandon turns six years old.  It's so true what they say - the days are long, but the years are short.  The years are truly flying by so fast and it's so bittersweet.  I remember drinking wine and bawling my eyes out the night before Brandon's first birthday.  I couldn't believe where that year had gone.  One thing is for sure though - I am so grateful for all the photos I've taken over the last six years.  In the moment, I always tell myself to really try and make a mental picture of what my kids looked like at this age, or this phase, or in this moment, etc., but sadly as the years go by those crystal clear pictures in my head get a little less clear.  When I look back at photos, it pulls at my heart strings to see exactly what their little faces looked like, their cute dimples, their beautiful happy smiles and just how small they looked.  I took these photos last August, and although that was only 6 months ago, both Brandon and Ally look so little in these to me!  As much as I wish time could slow down though, I'm so proud of who both of my kids are becoming, turning into amazing young kids and I'm so excited to see who they become in the future!  Right now, though, I'm going to sit back, sip my coffee, and look through some more photos of them :)

Happy 6th Birthday Brandon!  I love you so much!
