I had so much fun meeting the Fanelli Family this summer! They are so sweet and we had so much fun! Their sweet dog Bear even made an appearance (and photobombed a lot of photos haha). I just love having fun with families during photo sessions and getting lots of fun candid shots as well as the traditional posed shots. Take a look at some of my favorites from their session!

The Naber Family is so special! They have become not only repeat clients over the years, but clients I can call my friends. I was so excited to hear they were expecting another baby girl, and Nicolette is just as beautiful as her big sister Noelle! Noelle is such a sweetheart, but just like some toddler siblings, she was not interested in holding her baby sister or laying next to her. We tried all the tricks and bribes but sometimes they just aren’t enough to get sibling photos and that’s ok! It was the most important to Kristin and Travis to get a few good family photos, and we were able to sneak some in! Check out some of my favorite photos from this sweet newborn session.

Oh my goodness not only are baby Georgie and big sister Eliana SO photogenic, but she is the sweetest big sister and made these photos absolute perfection! I took Eliana’s one year milestone photos a year ago and her mom contacted me a few months ago wanting to book a newborn session for baby brother with Eliana. Georgie did so well during the shoot! I love his spiky hair and he had such perfect skin for a newborn! Check out some of my favorite photos from the session!

The Relucio Family was another new family I had the pleasure of working with! Baby Luka is so stinkin’ cute with that full head of hair he has! He did so well during his session, too! Unfortunately last year, Arielle and Steve lost their sweet baby boy and then some time after they found out they were expecting a rainbow baby - a little girl. They contacted me about setting up maternity and newborn photos and I felt so honored that they chose me to document a part of their story. Luckily I was also available to do the session while Arielle had rented the traveling rainbow skirt and they had the most beautiful weather the night of their shoot! Hacer and Enis were referred to me by one of my other clients who is a friend of theirs and it was so fun meeting them! They booked maternity photos and their upcoming newborn photos with me and I cannot wait to meet baby girl! Their maternity session date was another crazy hot day here and luckily they brought water and a pop up sports chair so that Hacer could take breaks and stay hydrated during the shoot. Being in your third trimester of pregnancy in the middle of summer is tough! Hacer and Enis were troopers though and oh my goodness their session was so dreamy! The gorgeous evening light combined with Hacer’s beautiful dress really made for special photos. Check out some of my favorites from the session!

This was the first time I met the Kwiatkowski Family and they were so fun! They actually live in Florida but Ryan grew up in Naperville and works remotely for his family business that is still in Naperville. They come to Naperville to visit each summer and Caroline wanted some updated family photos while they were in town! It was really hot the first day we were supposed to meet, so we pushed it back a week and it ended up still being pretty warm, but they were troopers and you can’t even tell! We had lots of fun - baby Ramsey is adorable with his big toothy smile and Charlotte loved spinning and dancing in her dress! Check out some of my favorites from the session!

The Sword Family is another family that has been coming to me for a few years now for their family photos and I’ve absolutely loved getting to know them and watch their kids grow! Mandy decided to switch things up this year and booked a downtown Naperville mini session and the photos came out so cute! This little spot is great because it’s a low traffic area for downtown Naperville, making it perfect for a photo session! They had beautiful weather and the light was just right! The Naber Family has been coming to me since Kristin was pregnant with Noelle and we did their maternity photos and then her newborn photos. Every session I have with Kristin and Travis is so fun! We definitely have a lot of laughs! Noelle is at a very tough photo age - she’s a super active toddler who wants to be independent, so getting some family photos during this session was a bit of a challenge. I did manage to sneak in some really cute family ones and then the rest of the session we focused on fun candid shots! Check out some of my favorites from this session!

Last fall I was supposed to do a milestone/sibling session for baby Catalina and her big sister Savannah, however, we needed to reschedule several times due to different circumstances and the session ended up being pushed back to this spring. The girls were very, very shy to start the session out, but by the end, they were smiling and laughing. We even got a little dancing out of them! They are so cute! The gorgeous Selimos Family was next up for spring mini sessions this year! I first met them when they booked a session with me in 2020 when Arie was just one. They’ve since added little Bodhi to the family! Arie and Bodhi are SO photogenic (not surprising because so are their parents) and I love the simplicity of the neutral color palette that Brittany planned for the family’s outfits. Not to mention Brittany’s adorable spring dress! Arie was having a tough time sitting with Bodhi for some sibling photos, however, the family shots and individual shots of the boys just show how sweet and fun this family is! I did a newborn session for the White Family last year in June for baby Juliette. I had a great time getting to know Lacey and Tosh. They are such nice people and I was so excited when Lacey booked a spring mini session this year because I love seeing families grow (and grow up!) through the years. Juliette is SO stinkin’ cute! Lacey also planned the cutest outfits for their session which complimented the spring wildflowers and my antique granny square quilt perfectly! Check out some favorites of mine from their session!

The sweet Stahmann Family kicked off spring mini sessions this year! I love seeing them for their yearly photos. They are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. And their girls are the cutest! Big sister Monroe is so sweet and little sister Olivia - goodness gracious there’s nothing better than the combo of a toothy toddler grin and mini toddler pigtails! My heart just melts every time I see a toddler in mini pigtails because it’s SO adorable and it reminds me of when my daughter Ally was little and I’d give her mini pigtails! I also love the simplicity of the girls’ dresses and how well they looked alongside Katie and Eric’s outfits, too. This was the perfect springtime session! Check out some of my favorite photos!

What can I say? I love, love, love when families come to me year after year entrusting me with documenting their precious family memories! I absolutely love watching families grow over the years and the Byczek Family is one of those! I met them when Megan was pregnant with Anderson and now he’s a big brother! And a darn good one, too! Just look at those proud big brother photos! Makes my heart melt! We did a posed newborn session for Anderson but Megan chose to switch things up this time for baby Archer and their studio lifestyle newborn session turned out so beautifully. I recently had the pleasure of meeting the Prakash Family for the first time and they are so sweet! Hemanth and Anusha are such calm parents and it totally reflects in their sweet boys! Neel is one of the best big brothers and oh my goodness we all just melted when he sat and held baby Naksh on the couch for the sibling photos. Last week I go to see the Malveaux Family again! I first met them last year when Chris planned an awesome surprise engagement during their family session that Carter had booked. I was so nervous to catch the proposal on camera but Chris and I pulled it off perfectly and Carter was so incredibly surprised and excited! Fast forward to this year and Carter emailed me asking to book another family session and I couldn’t wait to see them again. Their daughter Charlie is so cute and this year she was talking and we had a blast playing peek-a-boo! Another incredibly sweet family! This was my first time meeting the Alwan Family. Natalia is good friends with one of my long time clients who recommended me and I’m so glad I got to meet them! They were another family where it felt as though I’ve known them for years. Their son Brooks was adorable and made the session a breeze. Oh my gosh where do I even start with this sweet family?! This was my first time meeting the Sagan Family and all I can say is it felt like I’ve known them for years. Emily was feeling a little overwhelmed thinking about planning outfits for herself and the older kids, but she quickly put together the perfect combination! The family looked so beautiful. The older three kiddos are so well behaved and so cute! I had so much fun with them! They are also just the sweetest siblings and love their new baby sister so much, which you can tell just by looking at these photos. The awful spring weather we’ve been having here finally let up this week for one day and I was able to sneak in Amanda’s maternity photos! Not only is she gorgeous and so photogenic, but she is the sweetest, too! Her husband Karolis is in the Navy and is on the ship in California right now, so Amanda decided to come stay with her parents and sister (along with her adorable Goldendoodle, Rocky whom I love!) for a few weeks. While here, she decided she would have photos done for her pregnancy announcement/maternity photos. She picked the perfect dress and I found one of the limited spots around here with a few trees in bloom! It was a little chilly by the end of the night but no one would ever know by her photos. I had the absolute pleasure of meeting the Joy Family last week! Anjelica contacted me last fall to set up a newborn session and it was so great meeting her and her husband. Anjelica and Alec are the type of people that when you meet them you feel like you’ve known them for years. Their new baby girl Gianna was so adorable, too! Oh my word what can I say except that baby Marley is just so stinkin’ cute! This was honestly one of the easiest milestone sessions I’ve done because Marley was so happy. She did make me work for some big smiles because a lot of times as soon as I got the camera in front of her she stopped smiling and stared at it :) But some tickles did the trick and when I was fast enough at getting that camera up, I caught some big giggles and adorable smiles! I first met the Nowaczyk Family last year when I did Harper’s one year milestone photos in my studio. She was such a little doll and her photos turned out SO cute! A few months ago, Jessica reached out to me again letting me know that she was expecting another baby girl this year and wanted to book a newborn session! The Nowaczyks are such a sweet family and oh my goodness, Harper was a dream big sister, especially when it came time for the sibling photos! She was the cutest and was so willing to sit and lay with her little sister! She just melted my heart! I just love how this session turned out. They are such a beautiful family. Hi, I'm Marie!
I'm just a girl running on a perpetual low gas tank and low cell battery. I guess you can say I like living on the edge ;-) I'm a wife, mom, and photographer and I absolutely love my job! Most days you can find me in work clothes or workout clothes, but every year or so I like to do a self portrait project which forces me to put real clothes on, some makeup, and actually do my hair. Proof that sometimes I can look like an actual human and not just a disheveled mess :) This year's self portrait project was extra fun because I just redecorated my studio and needed new headshot photos for my website, so it was the perfect way to showcase the studio and show my face!
I love doing self portraits now and then (trust me though, it can be so frustrating - trying to get your pose correct and get the auto tracker on the camera to focus while you are running from the camera to your spot before the 10 second self timer goes off is no easy task!). But what I love the most about doing self portraits is remembering how it feels to be on the other side of the lens. I don't think {photographers} can fully be comfortable directing clients in sessions if they themselves don't ever practice being comfortable in front of the camera. I think it's so important to continue to practice this and experience not only our own family photos, but self portraits as well!
ps - Seeing these photos makes me SO happy. The studio remodel is exactly what I was envisioning my space to look like and I could not love it any more! I cannot wait to start doing more studio lifestyle sessions in here!
