About JONNETTE MASLOWSKI
Hi, artists!
I’d like to tell you about my art journey. After graduating high school my career goal was to be an art teacher. Well, I redirected my career course and instead, graduated with a degree in elementary education. After 28 years I retired, and I have been reviving my love of art, specifically my interest in watercolor painting.
I began teaching watercolor classes in my home, as well as teaching in a restaurant and my local library.
As a member of the Naperville Art League I have taken watercolor classes from one of their renowned watercolorists. Several of my submitted paintings have won merit awards, and I have sold pieces of my artwork. I have also participated in indoor and outdoor art fairs in Westmont.
My daughter, Marie, has graciously invited me to share her beautiful studio space and offer classes to small groups.
With my teaching expertise, my philosophy of teaching watercolors to others, is “not” demonstrate an entire painting and then say, “Okay, it’s your turn.” I want to share my struggles and successes while instructing my students on materials and techniques to become more confident. My goal is to foster each person’s unique style.
I will be offering four week sessions, as well as specific one or two day project oriented lessons. The class sizes are small to allow for more individual help.
My class structure is:
Instruction, demonstration, student practice, student application, and self reflection.
If you’ve ever thought about trying watercolor painting but have heard, “Oh, it’s too difficult!” let me dispel some of your hesitation. Come join a class!
