Hands-on watercolor painting classes for beginners and creatives, hosted in our natural-light photography studio and designed to inspire artistic growth.

After retiring from a 28-year career in education, Jonnette Maslowski rediscovered her love for watercolor painting and now shares that passion through small, thoughtful classes. An award-winning artist and member of the Naperville Art League, she teaches watercolor in a supportive, hands-on way that encourages confidence, creativity, and each student’s unique style.

Learn to Paint: One Day Class

  • In this two hour class, using negative painting techniques, you will create an easy birch trees painting, perfect to hang and proudly display in your home.

    Learn to Paint One Day Watercolors Class is a foundational art class hosted by the Ally and B Photography studio in downtown Naperville, IL. This one day class is geared toward students with beginner to intermediate experience, where they will practice the basic building blocks for enjoying watercolor painting. The class will be taught by Jonnette Maslowski, a former teacher of 28 years and lifelong artist. Jonnette is a member of the Naperville Art League and her paintings have won numerous awards.

    The Details:

    • Two hour class

    • Held at the Ally and B Photography studio (34 W Chicago Ave, 2nd Floor, Naperville, IL 60540) *please note, there is no elevator in the building

    • Beginner to Intermediate level experience

    • All materials needed are included and will be provided at the class

    • Maximum participants: 10

Learn to Paint: 4 Week Class

  • In this four week introductory series, learn how to use this beautiful medium to create one-of-a-kind artwork. Through instruction, demonstration, and practice, you will learn about materials, color theory, and basic watercolor painting techniques. The series will culminate in a creative and vibrant watercolor pear painting.

    • Four week class held on Sunday afternoons: Feb 15th - March 8th from 3:00-5:00pm

    • Held at the Ally and B Photography studio (34 W Chicago Ave, 2nd Floor, Naperville, IL 60540) *please note, there is no elevator in the building

    • Little to no experience needed

    • All materials needed are included and will be provided at the class

    • Maximum participants: 10

    Week One: Learn About the Basic Materials

    • Practice using paints with water

    • Practice using a round brush

    • Paint a cube

    Week Two: Get to Know Your Colors

    • Explore the color wheel

    • Mix warm and cool primary colors to create secondary colors

    • Paint a color chart

    • Paint a birthday card

    Week Three: Get to Know Basic Techniques

    • Wet on dry

    • Wet on wet

    • Dry brush

    • Paint a simple landscape

    Week Four: Get to Use What You’ve Learned

    • Prepare your paper

    • Plan your composition

    • Plan your color scheme

    • Paint pears
